In the July 2000 issue of Florida Agriculture, Carl B. Loop Jr., president of Florida Farm Bureau Federation, laments that environmentalists are now using a weapon called the “precautionary principle.” He states that the use of this tactic is of particular interest to the farming community due to the debate over the use of biotechnology in agriculture.
