Marissa is a teacher turned education innovator who is passionate about empowering families to choose which learning tools and environments best fit their children’s needs. With more than 20 years of teaching experience across public, private, and nontraditional education settings, Marissa dedicates her career to creating flexible, effective education solutions that meet the diverse needs of today’s learners. 

As an Education Fellow at The James Madison Institute, Marissa draws on her classroom experience and entrepreneurial insight, including her work as founder of the Urban Cottage Educational Collaborative, to advance policies and initiatives that promote educational excellence, freedom, and opportunity for all Florida families.

Marissa lives in Tampa, Florida with her husband and three teenage children.
