JMI Releases 2025 Policy Priorities
TALLAHASSEE – With the economic freedom and success we enjoy here, the Florida experiment is clearly working. Together, we have won many victories for limited government, economic prosperity, and liberty, but there is still much to be done.
Today, The James Madison Institute released its 2025 Policy Priorities, which detail a robust and visionary set of initiatives for the next year that reinforce our principles of limited government and economic liberty.
“The policy team at JMI is committed to providing our elected leaders in Tallahassee and D.C., along with the over 22 million residents from Pensacola to Key West, with all of the tools necessary to ensure that the Sunshine State continues to build on our success into 2025 and beyond. We look forward to working with Senate President Albritton, Speaker Danny Perez, committee chairs, members, and Governor DeSantis to further the cause for liberty and cement Florida as the blueprint for conservative governance that propels prosperity.” — Logan Padgett, Senior Vice President, The James Madison Institute
“The Florida Legislature’s adoption of universal school choice scholarships has been a smashing success. The Sunshine State now has 500,000+ students benefiting from K-12 scholarships — more than the entire public-school population in 15 different states! We still have some work to do. We need to lift regulatory barriers that are hindering the growth of new education enterprises and address issues of free expression and viewpoint diversity at the higher ed level.” – William Mattox, Senior Director of the Marshall Center for Education Freedom, The James Madison Institute
“We hold firm to the belief that free-market capitalism, limited government, and the rule of law make up the single biggest prosperity engine in human history. JMI remains committed to fiscal integrity, low taxes, and minimal regulation in an effort to preserve the principles and reasons for why Florida is growing by 1,000 new residents every single day. JMI stands steadfast in the belief that an ongoing commitment to limiting the footprint of government control in our lives and pursuing free markets through competition will continue to make the Sunshine State a beacon of liberty and prosperity for the rest of the world.” — Doug Wheeler, Director, George Gibbs Center for Economic Prosperity, The James Madison Institute
“As technology and innovation take center stage in Florida’s 2025 legislative agenda, the Sunshine State stands poised to emerge as a global tech hub. While Silicon Valley and New York’s tech sectors struggle under burdensome regulations, Florida’s commitment to free-market principles and limited government has created a thriving ecosystem for technology and innovation. This proven approach—emphasizing regulatory restraint and entrepreneurial freedom—continues to draw talented professionals and businesses seeking relief from overregulated markets. From Miami’s bustling tech corridors to emerging innovation centers across the state, Florida’s light-touch framework ensures that the economic and social benefits of technological advancement reach all communities. By maintaining this market-driven course, Florida can cement its position as America’s premier destination for technological innovation and economic growth.” — Dr. Edward Longe, Director of the Center for Technology & Innovation, The James Madison Institute
